Why

Imagine the beautiful colors and patterns on tropical fish. Create several fish, hang them together, and set up your own "aquarium" in your room!

Steps

  1. 1. Place a piece of Crayola® Color Explosion™ paper with the drawing side up. Using the color-reveal marker, outline a large tropical fish.
  2. 2. Create fun designs inside---stripes or dots or whatever you want! Add fins and an interesting tail, too.
  3. 3. Cut out around the fish with Crayola Scissors, leaving a narrow black area around the outline.
  4. 4. Display your Fancy Fish in your room. Why not make lots of fish with plants or coral to create your own ocean of color?

When & Where

"The scouts worked together with elderly residents to create a wonderful sea scene in their facility’s lobby!"
- Lana B., troop leader.

"Our kitchen looks like it’s under water! The kids decorated our cabinets with festive fish."
- Joe S., father of 7- and 8-year-olds.

Interesting Info

The English word fin is related to the Dutch word vin and is probably from the Latin word pinna, which means feather or wing. Fish use their fins to glide and “fly” through the water!
