Why

Create your own style of pendant to hang on ribbon. Make a treasured gift for your family member or a friend--or even keep it for yourself!

Steps

  1. 1. Flatten a Crayola Model Magic® Fusion™ ball in the pendant shape that you want. Make it like a thin pancake. Carve out a hole in the top for hanging it on ribbon with a plastic drinking straw.
  2. 2. Add Fusion coils or balls to the pendant base. You can change the shapes and add more things another day. Just store partially completed jewelry in a sealable plastic container!
  3. 3. You may want to draw a picture with the coils and then later fill in the areas with Crayola Squeezables™ 3-D Paint. Or you may want to build up a picture or design with balls and slab shapes and then use the Squeezables paint for details on top.
  4. 4. When you have the design and have added all the finishing touches you want, air-dry your pendant. Model Magic® Fusion™ dries to the touch overnight and dries completely in 2 to 3 days.
  5. 5. Thread ribbon, string, or yarn through the hole and secure the ends with clear adhesive tape for wearing. You will be like a walking art gallery as you proudly display your creation!

Interesting Info

Jewelry artifacts have been found from many ancient civilizations. For example, ancient Egyptians created very sophisticated and intricate jewelry that was worn by royalty. Pharaohs were entombed with jewelry on their mummified bodies and even wore amulets (good luck charms) throughout the layers of their wrappings! Other groups, such as the Anasazi people in North America, left behind jewelry artifacts from prehistoric times!

Safety Guidelines

Squeezables® 3-D Paint— WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD—Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. Not for use on skin.

Crayola Modeling Materials including Crayola Model Magic®, and Model Magic Fusion™, Crayola Air-Dry Clay, and Crayola Dough—

Crayola Washable Paints—Not for use as body/face paint.

String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.
