Why

Decorate a wooden frame, add a favorite photo, and give it to your BFF, best friend forever.

Steps

  1. 1. Choose a plain wooden photo frame that is fairly flat and has wide edges. Take out any glass and set it aside.
  2. 2. Use Crayola Model Magic® Neon Fusion™ modeling compound (or any colors you choose) to cover your frame. For a sophisticated look, choose two coordinating colors. Knead them together for a marbled look. Press onto frame to use as a background. Fusion compound sticks to itself and wood, no glue needed.
  3. 3. Here are some ideas to decorate the frame. Choose a theme that fits the picture or your personalities! Form circles and ovals to make flowers. Pinch petals with your fingers and press onto flowers. Use the end of a marker cap to create textures. Roll a small ball and flatten it to make a sun. Add sunglasses or a smile. Cut long thin pieces with Crayola Scissors to form stripes.
  4. 4. Roll out a small handful of Fusion compound and use a craft stick, scissors, or plastic dinnerware to cut out letters. Write your favorite saying, your names, or the date the photo was taken. With Fusion, you can make fine details such as impressions in the compound with a toothpick!
  5. 5. Press all your decorations on the frame. Set aside to dry for 3 days.
  6. 6. Insert the glass, add a favorite photo, and you’re ready to display the photo or give it as a treasured gift!

Safety Guidelines

Crayola Modeling Materials including Crayola Model Magic®, and Model Magic Fusion™, Crayola Air-Dry Clay, and Crayola Dough—

Mirrors, Picture Frames, and Plant Pots—Close adult supervision is required when children use craft materials that could shatter or break. Handheld mirrors, picture frames with glass, ceramic pots, and similar breakable items may be used only by children 8 years and older. For children 7 years and younger, use unbreakable materials such as wood or sturdy plastic picture frames, unbreakable mirrors, and plant pots that will not shatter into sharp edges.

Modeling Tools—Use the least dangerous point or edge sufficient to do the job. For example, craft sticks, plastic knives and forks, and cookie cutters can cut or carve modeling materials.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

Wood—By its nature, wood is rough and may contain splinters or sharp points
