Why

Celebrate spring by decorating your driveway or sidewalk! Fill a festive basket with spring flowers, decorated eggs, or a cheery Easter bunny!

Steps

  1. 1. Brighten your outdoors with a spring scene. This is how we drew the Bunny in a Basket with the Crayola Chalk ‘n Roll™ Drawing Set. Follow the package directions for best results—and draw your favorite spring scene.
  2. 2. Draw a large circle for the bunny’s head. Make ears by connecting lines to the circle—one arching toward the right and one arching toward the left. At the end of each arch, make a teardrop with the pointy tip facing upward. Now add the details of your bunny’s face, drawing by hand with Crayola Sidewalk Chalk.
  3. 3. To make the basket, draw an arch around the bunny’s head using two different colors in your Chalk ‘n Roll set. Draw a straight line connecting the two ends of the arch under the bunny’s face for the top of your basket. Draw two lines coming down at an inward angle and connect them at the bottom to make the basket. Change chalk colors and use all three drawing holes to make sideways lines across the basket. Cross over the lines going the other direction to finish the basket.
  4. 4. Next, add fun creations such as overlapping decorated eggs and flowers. Use measured clicks on the Chalk ‘n Roll to make flower petals the same length. Experiment with lines using single, double, and triple rows of chalk. Happy Easter!

When & Where

"We created several Easter baskets on our driveway. Our neighbors were so pleased with this family craft that they made similar holiday decorations! "
- AnneMarie M., mom of ages 5, 8, and 9.

"My girls and I put bunnies on the outside and eggs on the inside of our basket. We added lots of flowers all around!"
- Leah R., mother of ages 4 and 6.

Interesting Info

The tradition of Easter baskets comes from Germany. Children of immigrant families in the United States were excited when the Osterhase put eggs in its rabbit’s nest. Today, children line their Easter baskets with grass and fill them with brightly colored eggs.
