Wear a beautiful butterfly! Create colorful double-sided pendants for party favor—or to wear any time just for fun!

Steps

1. Cut Crayola Color Surge™ Paper to create a butterfly pendant. Need some help keeping the wings alike? Fold the paper in half and draw a wing along the fold. Cut out the wing and unfold the paper—you have a perfectly symmetrical butterfly!
2. Punch a hole in the top of the pendant. Thread ribbon, yarn, or string through the hole and tie.
3. Decorate the butterfly with vibrant colors! Draw swirls, dots, lines, or pictures on the wings. In nature, butterflies are an example of bilateral symmetry. This means that the patterns on the wings are the same on both sides. You can choose to follow nature’s lead or invent your own designs. You decide!
4. Color Surge Paper is twice the fun because it is two-sided. Flip your butterfly over and decorate it all over again! Each time you wear it, choose the color that is best!

Safety Guidelines

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.
