Why

Hippity hop! Airbrush a speckled frog with your Color Wonder™ Sprayer, and then bend its legs so it bounces. Jump into no-mess art!

Steps

  1. 1. Draw a frog body on Crayola Color Wonder Paper using a Color Wonder Marker. Extend its front legs on either side of the main body so that the "elbows" are extra long. Add details such as bulging eyes and a wide mouth.
  2. 2. On another piece of Color Wonder Paper, draw your frog’s back legs, making the "knees" extra long.
  3. 3. Follow the package directions for using your no-mess Color Wonder Sprayer. Spray your frog drawings in real or imaginary colors. Air-dry the paint.
  4. 4. Cut out your frog and its legs. Fold the elbow and knee areas accordion-style so your frog looks like it’s jumping. Glue the back legs to the body.
  5. 5. Shout "Bing-ga, bing-ga, bing!" or whatever sound your leaping frog makes as it jumps toward a lily pad.

When & Where

"My son’s fascination with frogs inspired a party that had everyone happily hopping. Besides making this easy craft, we played Leap Frog, ate gummy insects, and stuck out a lot of tongues."
- Chad C., father of 5- and 7-year-olds.

"Folding paper accordion-style adds so much dimension! Children enjoy making these extra-long appendages."
- Sally K., volunteer crafts aide.

Interesting Info

The story “Jim Smiley and His Jumping Frog” helped its author, Mark Twain, gain more widespread fame. It is a funny story about a far-jumping frog named Dan’l Webster and why the frog does not perform well during a contest (check inside the frog’s mouth, Jim Smiley!).
