Why

Enjoy making your own cards for holidays and birthdays? Crayola Color Surge™ Marker and Paper System makes your cards pop. Crayola Hassle Free Watercolor mini-paintings make them keepsakes.

Steps

  1. 1. Start by making mini-paintings for your cards. Create holiday designs on small pieces of paper with Crayola Hassle Free Watercolors. Each painting will be featured on a different card or combined with others for layered designs. Air-dry your paintings.
  2. 2. Cut Crayola Color Surge Paper into a long, wide strip for a card. Fold the ends of the strip in to the center. The card will have double flaps on the front. Or use your imagination to fold your card in other ways.
  3. 3. Cut recycled cardboard into small pieces. Glue a watercolor design to your card on top of cardboard bits so it pops out. Air-dry the glue
  4. 4. Add designs and messages to your card with super-bright Color Surge Markers.

When & Where

"What a great way to use all of the little watercolor pictures my children make! We keep the paintings and cardboard pieces in a box—a card kit—to create cards as we need them. "
- Danielle C., parent of ages 5 and 8.

"We so enjoyed creating our Greetings 4 You. First we painted little winter and holiday symbols. Then we put together holiday cards for everyone on our list. I think that this might become a holiday tradition! "
- Roger and Traci M., parents of 6-, 9-, and 10-year-olds.

Interesting Info

The tradition of sending greeting cards dates back to the Ancient Chinese custom of sending messages of good will to celebrate the new year.
