Why

What better way to explore their family relationships than to draw family portraits?

Steps

  1. 1. On a sheet of paper, draw each member of your family with Crayola® Washable Markers.
  2. 2. Include things that your family members do, either by themselves or together. For instance, if your sister loves to play softball, include a bat and ball.
  3. 3. Write each person's name on the portrait. Make sure the artist's name (that's you) and date are on this treasured family document.

When & Where

"Our son spent the morning drawing us just as he sees us. He later gave his art to his father, for Father's Day."
- Ellen F., mother of kids ages 8, 11, and 15.

"Children drew their extended families. They learned that families are created by love, and come in many configurations."
- Angelo D., religious school teacher.

Interesting Info

From a simple afternoon potluck to an all-week adventure, family reunions are a big hit. For memories galore, keep snapshots and children's art in a scrapbook along with the formal portraits.
