Why

There's plenty of space for creativity in these short stories. The long and short of it is, this clever activity lets kids relive summer fun while getting back in the "write" mood for school.

Steps

1. 1. On a large piece of construction paper, use Crayola® Washable Markers and Crayola Scissors to draw and cut out a pair of shorts. Decorate the shorts in your favorite designs.
2. 2. Cut lined paper to fit in the center of your shorts.
3. 3. Write a short story about what you did on summer break. Younger children can dictate stories to an adult or student.
4. 4. Glue the story on your shorts with a Crayola Glue Stick.

Interesting Info

During summer, the earth's axis tilts toward the sun, causing higher temperatures and longer days. When it is summer in the Northern Hemisphere it is winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

Safety Guidelines

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.
