Why

Deck your halls, trees, doors, wreaths, and windows with these festive holiday ornaments. Kids choose the theme and start a family tradition!

Steps

  1. 1. What winter holidays do you celebrate? The winter solstice, Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa, or others? Think of symbols for the season such as dreidels, snow sculptures, Yule wreaths, or a kinara.
  2. 2. Mold Crayola® Model Magic® into holiday shapes. Add details with other colors of Model Magic.
  3. 3. Ask an adult to poke a paper clip into the top of each ornament for hanging. Dry.
  4. 4. Decorate your Holiday Hangers with Crayola Glitter Glue. Dry.

When & Where

"My son and his grandmother made several fancy Hanukah ornaments to hang on her door."
- Gregori T., father of 8-year-old.

"Each class made seasonal symbols for our tree. We hung them with silver string."
- Mary K., school volunteer.

Interesting Info

The Earth is tilted on its axis at an angle of 23 degrees and 27 minutes. When your hemisphere is leaning as far away from the sun as it can-the winter solstice-the hours of daylight are shortest and the sun rises at its lowest point in the sky. The summer solstice, at the same time in the other hemisphere, brings the longest day and the highest sun.
