Why

Kids make this craft to remember to help others on Angel Day, August 22. Then move their adorable angel on high to be a Christmas tree topper.

Steps

1. Measure colored construction paper to cover a cardboard tube. Cut with Crayola® Scissors. Attach with Crayola School Glue.
2. Decorate construction paper for your angel's dress with Crayola Gel Markers, Crayola Metallic FX Crayons, and Crayola Glitter Glue. Dry. Bend the skirt into a bell shape and glue to the tube. Attach pieces of paper doily or lace to the bottom of dress. Cut two half hearts from doilies for wings. Attach with glue. Dry.
3. Cut out a construction paper angel face. Draw features with Crayola Washable Markers. Glue the face on the angel. Bend a chenille stick into a halo, leaving a stem to hold it up. Glue it to the angel's head. Dry.

New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art has a display of Neapolitan Baroque Crèche figures under its Angel Tree. The Angel Tree is filled with ornate terra-cotta figures dressed in silk, velvet, and lace.
