In the midst of the old walled city of Hyderabad, India, is the Charminar, a massive arch built by Mohammed Quli Qutab Shah in 1591 to commemorate the end of the plague. The Charminar is 56 meters (184 feet) high. It is an impressive square gateway with four towering minarets. The Charminar includes a mosque, and its Cazia style of architecture reflects both Hindu and Muslim traditions.
