Why

Multiply your love on Valentine's Day or any time! Create a wreath of painted hearts for someone you adore.

Steps

1. Cover your work area with recycled newspaper. Choose your favorite or seasonal colors. Paint two sheets of construction paper in each color with Crayola® Washable Kid's Paint and Paint Brushes. Dry.
2. With Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils, draw three or four different sizes of hearts on the painted papers. Cut them out with Crayola Scissors. Decorate some of the hearts with Crayola® MiniStampers or Crayola Fine Line Markers.
3. Cut cardboard into the shape of a heart. Cut construction paper into the same shape. Attach the paper to the cardboard with Crayola Glue Sticks.
4. Write a message in the center of the wreath if you like. Overlap the painted hearts and glue them around the outside edges of the cardboard heart to make a wreath.
5. Punch a hole at the top. Thread with ribbon or yarn for hanging.

Interesting Info

Valentine is the saint of love in many countries, including Japan, Latin America, Asia, Oceania, and the United States. St. Valentine is the patron saint of Terni, Italy, where Valentine celebrations are held all during February.

Safety Guidelines

Crayola Washable Paints—Not for use as body/face paint.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.
