Why

What sights and smells does fall bring to mind? Perhaps falling leaves, pumpkins, and scarecrows? Show the season's colors on a window!

Steps

  1. 1. Summer passes, and the weather brings many changes. What are your favorite autumn activities? Maybe you enjoy collecting leaves, or picking pumpkins, playing football, or trick-or-treating. Fall brings changing colors, and more time spent indoors during chilly weather.
  2. 2. Create seasonal artwork to match your festive fall moods! Use Crayola® Washable Window Markers to decorate windows with your favorite fall activities. Be sure windows are securely closed and locked before decorating them.
  3. 3. If you have several ideas, change your window often during the autumn weeks to show your changing interests. Do you cheer for a football team, or hope for an especially spooky Halloween costume? Who's ready to go back to school? Show your fall colors with Crayola® Washable Window drawings. Just wipe away the drawings with a damp paper towel, dry, and draw again.

When & Where

"Our local football teams play a traditional Thanksgiving Day game. What a great way for kids to show their spirit!"
- Rasheed L., coach.

"My girls enjoy collecting brightly colored leaves each fall. They drew leaf borders on our bay window."
- Sarah G., mom or 6- and 8-year-olds.

Interesting Info

Leaves change color in the fall because the green pigment in them (chlorophyll) diminishes when the temperature drops and the days get shorter. The colors that you see in autumn leaves were always there...they were just covered up by the green chlorophyll.

Safety Guidelines

Windows—Be sure windows are securely closed and locked before decorating. An adult must closely supervise the activity.
