Try a fun, fast art technique—decoupage—to create a beautiful keepsake box.
1.
In traditional decoupage, cut-out pictures are glued to a hard surface to create a decorative design. Here is a kid-friendly, fun introduction to this technique!
2.
Use Crayola True to Life™ Crayons to add cool colors to cupcake papers. Twist and turn the tri-color tipped crayons to get different combinations. Color enough wrappers to cover a paper-maché keepsake box. Tear the wrappers into pieces. Vary the size and shape.
3.
Cover your craft area with newspaper. Brush glue on the back of each piece. Place the pieces on the box one at a time. Overlap the pieces. Vary the spacing and colors as you decorate the box. When you finish adding pieces, brush on a thin layer of glue to protect the box. Air-dry the glue.
4.
You have created a decoupage masterpiece! Be creative with this technique and try it on other surfaces such as wood, cardboard, or fabric!
