A-Peeling Petals
Separate layers of corrugated cardboard to make an a-peeling floral bouquet! Crayola® Gel Markers lend color and dimension to every gorgeous petal.
1. Use Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils to draw a flower with just a few petals on a sheet of corrugated cardboard. Make the center of the flower, where the petals meet, fairly wide to anchor the A-Peeling Petals.
2. Ask an adult to help you cut out your flower with Crayola Scissors and to poke a small hole in the center.
3. Corrugated cardboard has three layers: a top and bottom, which are thin brown paper, and a central, rippled layer. Carefully peel the layers of cardboard apart.
4. Use Crayola Gel Markers to color each layer. Use the most detail on the top layer because it will show the most. For a dimensional effect, curl the top petals up and the bottom petals down by winding the paper around a colored pencil. Remove the pencil.
5. Push a chenille stem through the hole in the center of the flower. Curl the top of the stem into a small spiral, so it stays in place.
6. Ask an adult to help you cut another stem in half. Wrap half of this stem tightly around the base of the flower.
7. Draw a leaf or two on the cardboard. Color both sides with Crayola Gel Markers.
8. Ask an adult to help you cut out the leaf. Leave it flat. Pinch one end of the leaf, so you can place it on the stem. Wrap the other half of the chenille stem tightly around the base of the leaf and then on the flower stem. If necessary, add Crayola School Glue to the base of the leaf to keep it in place.
9. Make several colorful flowers for an A-Peeling bouquet.
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.
