Back To School Busy Board
Why does it seem like there is less time and more to do when you go back to school? Stay organized with a Back-to-School Busy Board!
1. The Back-to-School Busy Board is an organization station with little notepads on colorful squares of Crayola Color Explosion Paper. Each notepad has a label (days of the week or names of people in your family) so you can write important memos and even tear them off to take with you!
2. Do you want a message board or a days-of-the-week reminder board? Figure out how many spaces you will need on your board and what size they should be. Look at the photo for an example. Gather enough notepads for each space.
3. Cut Crayola Color Explosion Paper into pieces to fit your plan. (Make sure your hands are completely dry before using Crayola Color Explosion Black paper.)
4. Cut a slit in each piece of Color Explosion paper. The slit should be as long as the paper tablet is wide. Use a Crayola cutting tool, like the Crayola Ultimate Cutter, or fold the paper to snip a short slit then stick your scissors through to cut your long slit.
5. Slide the back of the notepad into the slit.
6. Use Color Explosion Markers to create magical designs around the notepad. Make surprising color patterns! Write words and eye-catching designs. Create multicolor doodles using just the Color Explosion Marker.
7. Attach each paper to your board using a Crayola Glue Stick.
8. To make it easy to hang your board anywhere, tie ribbon through holes in the board.
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.
Adult Assistance is required for this arts & crafts project.
Color Explosion™ Black—Wash hands well with soap and water after use.
Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.
String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.
