Birds of a Feather

Why

Your children will be flocking to make these decorative bird boxes that let their imaginations fly. Kids create their own unique 'nest' for keepsakes.

Steps

1. Spread newspaper over your work area. Paint a small recycled cardboard box and lid with Crayola® Washable Kid's Paint and Paint Brushes. Jewelry or stationery-size boxes work best. Dry.

2. With Crayola School Glue, glue together pompoms to form a bird on the box lid. An option can be to color cotton balls with Crayola Washable Markers.

3. Attach craft feathers, craft eyes, and chenille sticks for wings and feathers.

Safety Guidelines

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.
