Chameleon Book Covers
Make cool chameleons that change colors on your book covers! How? With Crayola® Changeables™!
1. Chameleons can indeed shift colors-usually because of changes in temperature or their body chemistry. When chameleons are scared, they may change because of chemicals released in their bodies.
2. To celebrate your change from a summer-fun kid to a serious student (or a couch or mouse potato to an avid reader) create this colorful chameleon book cover.
3. With Crayola Scissors, cut a large paper grocery bag so it lies flat. Lay its printed side up. Place your book on the grocery bag and open the book near the middle. Trace a line around the edge of the book with Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils.
4. Set the book aside. Draw a wide margin (at least four fingers wide) all the way around the rectangle you traced. Cut out the large rectangle.
5. On the original lines you drew, fold in both long edges of the book cover. The printed part of the bag will be on the inside of the folds.
6. Fold in the short sides along the lines. Lay your book inside its cover. Slip the edge of the front cover of your book into a short side fold. Arch the open book back slightly, and slip the back cover into the other one. Close your book slowly, easing the book cover onto the book.
7. Use Crayola Changeables markers to draw a chameleon (or any other design you want) on the front, back, and spine of your book cover. Use your Crayola Changeables Wand-and watch the chameleon's colors change right before your eyes!
