Cheep & Chirp Bird Book
Listen to the birds sing! Watch them fly away! Keep track of their bright colors and cheerful songs in your very own bird-watcher book.
1. Birds are so fascinating! Have you noticed their different songs, colors, markings, feet, beaks, tail feathers, and wing shapes? It’s fun to remember how many different birds you hear and see during a day in the park or at the beach. Here’s one way to print your own bird-watcher book.
2. Prepare a printing block. Sketch a book cover design on paper with Crayola® Erasable Colored Pencils. Press your design into a recycled foam produce tray with a colored pencil. Remember your design will come out opposite when you print it.
3. Print your cover. Cut two construction paper book covers with Crayola Scissors. Cover your craft area with newspaper. Using Crayola Paint Brushes, cover your printing block with Crayola Washable Kid’s Paint. Press it on your book cover and remove. Air-dry your print.
4. Put your book together. Cut white paper to fit inside your Cheep & Chirp covers. Staple your book together. Add to the cover with Crayola Washable Markers. For a 3-D effect, glue on cut-paper shapes with Crayola Glue Sticks. You’re ready for a bird-watching trek!
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.
Crayola Washable Paints—Not for use as body/face paint.
Recycled Foam Produce Trays—Wash in hot, soapy water. No meat or poultry trays should be used.
Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.
