Dangling Snake

Why

Charmed by snakes? This fake snake is easy to make with your Crayola Color Explosion Spinner™ designs!

Steps

1. Follow the package directions to design your snake paper with the Crayola Color Explosion Spinner™ and solution! Start by making a dot on the paper with a color-reveal marker. Use Crayola Scissors to cut your decorated paper into a large oval or circle. To make a spiral snake, start on the edge and cut around and around until you get to the center.

2. Add snake details. Round off one end of your spiral so it looks like a snake head. Cut the other end to a point so it looks like a tail. Cut scraps of decorated paper into eyes and a tongue. Attach them with Crayola School Glue. If you like, add sparkles with a Crayola Magic Sparkle Wand.

3. Tie it up! Cut ribbon, string, or yarn about as long as your arm. Tie one end around the snake’s neck. Dangle the snake in a breezy place indoors or swirl it around to see it twirl!

Safety Guidelines

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.

Color Explosion Spinner®— WARNING: People who are photosensitive (have had seizures induced by flashing lights and patterns) should not use this toy without first consulting a doctor. There is a possibility that photosensitivity may occur in children who have no history of prior seizures or epilepsy.

Color Explosion™ Black—Wash hands well with soap and water after use.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.

Where & When

"We learn how to be safe around insects, snakes, animals, and plants. Each boy wrote one safety tip on the back of his Safety Snake."
Jose T., scout leader.

"I spent a lot of time looking for a craft to go with my Adam and Eve lesson, and this was just right for our Sunday School class. We wrote a verse on the back with Crayola Markers."
Laurie R., religious school volunteer.

Interesting Info

Snakes are long, thin, flexible reptiles. Since they do not have legs, they slither along the ground. In the United States and Canada, only copperheads, coral snakes, rattlesnakes, and water moccasins (all pit vipers) have poisonous bites.
