Flip-Flop Photo Frames

Why

Summer fun for more than one! Create a pair of magnetic flip-flop frames--one for you and one to share!

Steps

1. Cut Crayola® Color Explosion™ paper into the shape of a pair of flip-flops with Crayola Scissors. Need help with the shape? Trace around a pair of your shoes!

2. Decorate the flip-flops with the Color Explosion color-reveal markers and Crayola Glitter Glue. Make a fashion-forward design that is uniquely you. Air-dry the sparkly flip-flops.

3. Cut two 10-inch (25.4 cm) pieces of ribbon for flip-flop straps. Fold each ribbon in half. For each flip-flop, glue the fold at the toe with Crayola School Glue. Glue the ends of the ribbons around the sides to complete the straps. Air-dry the glue.

4. Cut out and glue on a photo of friends, pets, or family at the heels. Air-dry the glue. Stick magnetic tape on the back of each sandal. Hang up your fantastic flip-flop frames or give them as a gift. You’ll put your best foot forward!

Safety Guidelines

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.

Glitter Glue— WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD—Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. Not for use on skin.

Magnets— WARNING: Only use common magnets that have a weak attractive force, for example, magnetic tape or flexible refrigerator magnets. Never use permanent, high-attractive-force magnets, for example, rare earth magnets or magnets used in motors. If the magnet is small, follow the small parts guidance. WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD—Small parts. Not for children under 3 years.

Color Explosion™ Black—Wash hands well with soap and water after use.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.

Interesting Info

Flip-flops are more that summer shoes. To flip-flip can mean to change your mind about something or to do a backwards somersault!
