Irresistible Egg Centerpiece

Why

Hunt no more for the perfect Easter egg project! The irresistibly beautiful crayon resist work on these eggs make them an egg-cellent choice for Easter decorating.

Steps

1. Draw egg-shaped ovals on heavy white paper such as watercolor paper with Crayola® Erasable Colored Pencils. Cut out your eggs with Crayola Scissors.

2. Decorate both sides of the eggs in vibrant colors and designs with Crayola Metallic Crayons.

3. Spread newspaper over your work area. Paint one side of the eggs with Crayola Watercolor Paints and Paint Brushes. Notice how the paint resists the crayon markings and colors only the white areas of the egg. Dry. Paint the other side of each egg. Dry.

4. Cut drinking straws to different heights and tape eggs to straws.

5. Form an attractive centerpiece base with Crayola Model Magic. Arrange straws with eggs attached in this base. Add Easter grass and other seasonal decorations to your centerpiece if you wish.

Safety Guidelines

Crayola Modeling Materials including Crayola Model Magic®, and Model Magic Fusion™, Crayola Air-Dry Clay, and Crayola Dough—

  • Keep away from open flames. Do not use to make candleholders, hot plates, trivets, or other similar objects that will be used or placed near fire and other heat sources.
  • Do not put in an oven, microwave, or kiln.
  • Do not make into vessels/containers that will hold unpackaged food.
  • The use of modeling material to make items that look like food is discouraged for children younger than age 5 to avoid their confusion with real food.
  • Unless sealed with a water-resistant glaze, do not make projects exposed to or immersed in water, such as boats or outdoor bird feeders. They would disintegrate when exposed to moisture.
  • Crayola Dough—contains gluten (wheat flour) as an ingredient.
  • Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Crayola Model Magic and Model Magic Fusion are gluten-free. However, they are produced on the same machinery as Crayola Dough which does contain gluten. Although the machines are cleaned prior to the start of each production run, there is a slight possibility that trace amounts of gluten from Crayola Dough may be present in the other modeling compound products. Interesting Info

The White House Egg Roll is an Easter tradition that started with U.S. First Lady Dolley Madison in the early 19th century and continues today. The private White House grounds are opened to children who hunt for hidden eggs and candy. The highlight is when eggs are rolled down the lawn.
