Jolly Joke Book

Why

Jokes are serious business to young children who are developing language. Kids build reasoning and literacy skills while smiling at their very own book of jokes.

Steps

1. Fold a sheet of white paper in half, and then in half the other direction, to make the cover and inside of your joke book.

2. Use Crayola® Total Tools™ Write Color Pencils to write and illustrate your jokes. Remember jokes you've heard, copy your favorites from books, or create your own silly sayings, riddles, and jokes. Ask an adult to assist you if you are an early writer.

3. Tickle funny bones by sharing your joke book with others.

Safety Guidelines

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.

Interesting Info

Before Pope Gregory started a new Christian calendar in 1592, the new year was celebrated around April 1st . Many people in France didn't believe in the new date and continued to observe the old new year. These people were called "April Fools' and others played tricks on them and sent them on "fool's errands."
