Locker, Desk, or Door Sign

Why

Magically mark your locker, bedroom door, or desk with your own Crayola™ Changeables™ sign. Be a good sport and cheer for your team!

Steps

1. Use Crayola Changeables to color a few wide bands of your favorite colors on white construction paper. Choose your school or team colors if you like. Use your imagination to draw a creative shape or design. Make sure the shape fits in your locker or on your desk.

2. Write your name and message with the Crayola Changeables Wand. Make the letters big and bold. You might write Go Rockets! along with a team member's name, for example. What happens to your original colors when you use the wand?

3. Use the Changeables Wand to create a pattern around the outer edge of your sign, too. Cut out your sign with Crayola Scissors.

4. If you want to hang your sign with a ribbon, punch two holes into the top. Thread a ribbon through the holes and knot. Display your sign in or on your locker, on your bedroom door, or on your desk---for a magical start to any school day or sporting event!

Safety Guidelines

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project.

Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.

String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.

Interesting Info

Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, and Samuel Adams attended the first public school in America. This school, which was established in the home of schoolmaster Philemon Pormont, was built by Puritan immigrants in Boston, Massachusetts. It was later moved to (where else?) School Street.
