Moomba in Melbourne
Join Melbourne, Australia, in some festive Moomba fun! Create bobble-head figures with Crayola® Model Magic® and hold your own parade.
1. For 4 days in early March, Melbourne, Australia, celebrates the spirit of the 4Fs—fun, family, festive, and free—during Moomba. Decorated tram parades, street fairs, music, and water sports on the Yarra River are just a few of the activities that happen on the streets.
2. Get into a Moomba mood by making a bobble-head figure that can ride in the car or sit on your desk. Capture the Australian spirit with a bobble-head kangaroo or koala!
3. With a handful of white Crayola Model Magic, form a stable body. Decorate it with bits of colored Crayola Model Magic. The modeling dough sticks to itself with just a bit of pressure.
4. Roll a ball with a smaller handful of modeling material. Push your thumbs up into it and hollow out the head. Make a face using more Model Magic. Air dry both Model Magic parts for 24 hours.
5. Cover your art area with newspaper. Mix a glaze of equal parts Crayola School Glue and water. Paint the Model Magic pieces with the glaze using a Crayola Paint Brush. Air dry the pieces.
6. Fold a chenille stem in half and twist into one sturdy stem. Stick one end into the head like a neck and the other end into body between shoulders. Bend chenille stem until head balances upright. Secure stem with glue. Air dry before bobbling!

Crayola Modeling Materials including Crayola Model Magic®, and Model Magic Fusion™, Crayola Air-Dry Clay, and Crayola Dough—
- Keep away from open flames. Do not use to make candleholders, hot plates, trivets, or other similar objects that will be used or placed near fire and other heat sources.
- Do not put in an oven, microwave, or kiln.
- Do not make into vessels/containers that will hold unpackaged food.
- The use of modeling material to make items that look like food is discouraged for children younger than age 5 to avoid their confusion with real food.
- Unless sealed with a water-resistant glaze, do not make projects exposed to or immersed in water, such as boats or outdoor bird feeders. They would disintegrate when exposed to moisture.
- Crayola Dough—contains gluten (wheat flour) as an ingredient.
- Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Crayola Model Magic and Model Magic Fusion are gluten-free. However, they are produced on the same machinery as Crayola Dough which does contain gluten.
