On-the-Way Scavenger Hunt

Why

What’s there to do while you travel? Tailor an On-the-Way Scavenger Hunt to your trip for hours of family fun.

Steps

1. What do you see out the window when you’re riding or flying? Be the first to spy landmarks, from the ordinary to the extra-ordinary! This scavenger hunt is definitely for kids (or adults) with sharp eyes!

2. Here’s how to make your game. With Crayola Twistables, write a list of things you expect to see along your route: traffic lights or bridges, for example. Make another list of things that you hope to see, such as dogs or a helicopter. Create another list of things that you might see. Depending on the time of year, you could spot snow sculptures or jack-o-lanterns.

3. On the inside of a recycled file folder, draw the items on your list. Leave space next to each one. You could check when you see something like that spooky abandoned house. Or make hash marks to count how many red lights and green lights you see. You’re ready to play!

Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.
