Outer Space Travelers

Why

Who are your favorite astronauts-real or imaginary? Join their adventures with this collage from outer space!

Steps

1. Find some pictures of astronauts---real or pretend. What space suits are they wearing? Why?

2. Use Crayola® Twistables to draw several space travelers on a recycled brown paper bag. Include all of the items they might need to survive on a far-off planet. Cut out pieces with Crayola Scissors.

3. Create a planet for your space traveler collage. Cut shapes from several colors of tissue paper.

4. Cover your art area with newspaper. Mix equal amounts of Crayola School Glue and water with a Crayola Paint Brush. Cover a dark construction paper background with the glue mixture. Attach tissue paper shapes to the damp paper. Smooth the tissue paper in place with a small amount of the glue mixture. Layer several different colors of tissue paper for a spacey color effect. Dry.

5. Glue your space travelers to the collage background. Use Crayola Glitter Glue to add details such as stars and other planets. Dry.

6. Create helmets and other space gear with decorative craft materials such as buttons or feathers. Glue on. Dry.
