Planet Pick-Up

Why

This recycled grocery bag pulls double duty as an art project and colorful container to collect trash. Everyone pitches in to clean up the planet!

Steps

1. Decorate a recycled paper grocery bag with Crayola® Twistables™ on themes related to Earth Day, recycling, or ecology. Write words about keeping the Earth clean.

2. Ask an adult to supervise your Planet Pick-Up. Use your bag to gather only paper trash at your park, school, or along quiet neighborhood streets. Wear protection on your hands, such as gardening gloves.

3. While you pick up litter, observe the beauty of the environment and wildlife around you. Why not start a Planet Savers club and make cleaning up our planet a regular activity?

Interesting Info

People who live in developed countries typically throw out as much garbage in a week as they weigh. Only 14% of all that trash is recycled.
