Rock ‘n Roll Marble Art

Why

Let the good times roll with this project. It's packed with opportunities to explore music, science, visual arts, and creative movement.

Steps

1. Spread recycled newspaper over your work area. Pour a spoonful of Crayola® Washable Kid's Paint in different colors onto a foam produce tray.

2. Place a sheet of white paper in the bottom of a large baking pan or cardboard box. Dip a marble, ball, or small rounded rock into paint and place in the box.

3. Turn on music and dance, tilting the box in different directions as you move. Notice how gravity makes the marble roll across the paper.

4. Wipe the marble on a paper towel. Dip in a different color of paint. Repeat until you have a colorful picture. Dry flat.

Interesting Info

Music enhances many brain functions such as reasoning, abstract thinking, and spatial and math skills. As children clap or dance, they are learning patterns and the two hemispheres of their brains are making connections.
