Roll-Coil-Snip Easy Basket

Why

Create a multicolored basket with a few twists of Model Magic®.

Steps

1. Roll two colors of Crayola Model Magic into three long snakes. Coil one snake into a basket shape.

2. With your fingers, snip the second snake into short pieces. Attach snips across basket coils to create a woven effect.

3. Fold the third snake in half and twist into a handle. Connect to your basket sides.

Interesting Info

Baskets are typically made of materials that fall apart over time, so there are not many examples of very old baskets. Usually baskets are made from materials found locally. Some of these materials include bamboo, banana leaves and bark, jute, raffia, rattan, savannah grass, and sisal. What types of materials are used in baskets weaving in your area?
