Shimmering Fish Puppets

Why

Dive into this catch of the day. Kids read fish books and then act out the story with their creatures. Older kids research Izaak Walton, a fish expert born on August 9, 1593. Why is he still so well known today?

Steps

1. Draw a fish on construction paper with Crayola® Metallic FX Crayons. Cut it out using Crayola Scissors.

2. Decorate the fish with Crayola Washable Markers and crayons.

3. Use Crayola School Glue to attach a plastic straw to the back.

4. Add Crayola Glitter Glue designs to make your fish sparkle. Dry.

Where & When

"My kids play Follow the Leader with these. They display their fish by standing straws in Crayola Modeling Clay."
Gina S., mother of children ages 4 and 6.

"The kids wrote their names on their fish and hung them from a net. Whenever I need a helper, I go fishing to catch one."
Henry F., religion teacher.

Interesting Info

Flying fish don't really fly. They use their long fins to leap out of the water and glide through the air for a short distance.
