Striking Pendant & Earrings

Why

Jewelry takes on a whole new look with Crayola Color Surge™ Paper and Markers! Will your fashion statement be delicate or dramatic?

Steps

1. Pick the colors of Crayola Color Surge™ Paper that coordinate this spectacular jewelry with your wardrobe or to make as a gift.

2. For earrings or pendants, start by cutting cool, interesting paper shapes (star, swiggly, oval, diamond) with a Crayola Cutter. Make two identical shapes for earrings.

3. Design both sides of the paper with Crayola Color Surge Markers.

4. To make your jewelry even more unique, make interior cuts with the Cutter. You can easily remove even fine bits of paper!

5. If you like, cut other tiny pieces to glue on in layers on your pendants or earrings. Design them with the Color Surge Markers, too.

6. To create curly embellishments, cut squares or rectangles into thin strips, leaving one end uncut. Glue that end to each earring or your pendant. Air-dry the glue.

7. Wrap each strip around a cotton swab and then release to reveal the curled paper. For other looks, try accordion folds, quilled paper, and other techniques!

8. To make looped earrings like those shown here, cut decorated Color Surge Paper squares or rectangles into narrow strips, leaving a tiny bit at each end uncut. Glue the ends together to form a hoop. Air-dry the glue.

9. Poke a hole in the top of the pendant to attach a jump ring. Add ribbon to make a necklace. Use jewelry wire to attach to earring backings.

10. If you want sparkly jewelry, embellish your pendants and earrings with Crayola Glitter Glue. Air-dry the glue.

11. When you wear this jewelry, you will be a walking piece of art!

Where & When

"What a great sleepover craft. The girls spent hours designing jewelry—for themselves, for each other, and for their Moms!"
Kayleen D., mother of ages 11 and 12.

"Older elementary children made this jewelry as a fundraiser for our annual school craft fair. Everything was gone in the first hour, so we took orders. "
Marc T., PTA leader.
