SuperStar Tote

Why

Be a superstar at school or when you shop! Store your important stuff in a pouch you design yourself. Decorate it with your favorite names and designs.

Steps

1. Find out how designers use nature in their art. Start with a bag that is made with 100% cotton or cotton blends.

2. Use Crayola® Fabric Markers to experiment with your designs on paper first. What colors will you use?

3. To design your tote, cover your art area with white paper. Place your tote on the paper. Put cardboard inside the bag so the marker color doesn't bleed through the other side. Decorate right on the fabric! These markers are permanent on clothing. Crayola® Fabric Markers stain clothing and surfaces, CLOSE ADULT SUPERVISION IS REQUIRED. Recap markers as soon as possible and store in a horizontal position.

4. Add an iron-on patch to your tote if you wish. Place fabric on flat ironing surface. Remove paper backing from iron-on patch. Place it design-side up on fabric (do not remove the clear protective cover sheet). Ask an adult to preheat an iron set on cotton with no steam. Apply firm pressure for 30 seconds. Cool. Gently remove clear cover sheet.

5. Fabric marker designs must be heat set by an adult. Set iron to cotton setting and iron on the reverse side using a back and forth motion for 4 minutes. Or place garment in the dryer for 30 minutes on the hottest setting.

6. To prevent bleeding of fabric marker colors, wash items separately, in cold water, for the first three times. Machine dry.

Interesting Info

The sun is our closest star. Because it is so close to Earth, it outshines all the other stars in the sky. Stars shine during the day, but the light of the sun is so bright, that the light from the other stars cannot be seen.
