Travel Memories Organizer

Why

Just back from a trip? Or a family reunion? Save your keepsakes in one convenient, and beautifully decorated, box!

Steps

1. Do you have maps, photos, and brochures from a trip or event that are sitting in a pile? Stash your stuff in a handsome box that invites you to get organized and share your memories! Start with a wooden craft box (or a recycled cardboard box with a lid). Use your imagination and any theme to decorate your storage container. Here’s one way to do it.

2. With Crayola Scissors, cut enough interesting paper to cover the inside and outside of your box—photos, maps, brochures, menus, newspaper articles or pictures, stickers. Make a collage of funky shapes and sizes! Glue the papers to the outside and inside of the box so it has a decoupage look. Brush a glaze of equal parts glue and water over the top to protect the surface. Air-dry the glue.

3. Shape, or roll and cut, Crayola Model Magic® Fusion™ compound into thin mementoes of landmarks, animals, people, and fun places you went. Press them in place on the box, inside and out. Glue them to the surface as needed.Model Magic® Fusion™ dries to the touch overnight and dries completely in 2 to 3 days.

4. Add designs or details to your Travel Memories Organizer with Crayola Squeezables™ 3-D Paints and/or Glitter Glue. Air-dry the decorations before filling the box with your most precious memories!

Crayola Modeling Materials including Crayola Model Magic®, and Model Magic Fusion™, Crayola Air-Dry Clay, and Crayola Dough—

  • Keep away from open flames. Do not use to make candleholders, hot plates, trivets, or other similar objects that will be used or placed near fire and other heat sources.
  • Do not put in an oven, microwave, or kiln.
  • Do not make into vessels/containers that will hold unpackaged food.
  • The use of modeling material to make items that look like food is discouraged for children younger than age 5 to avoid their confusion with real food.
  • Unless sealed with a water-resistant glaze, do not make projects exposed to or immersed in water, such as boats or outdoor bird feeders. They would disintegrate when exposed to moisture.
  • Crayola Dough—contains gluten (wheat flour) as an ingredient.
  • Crayola Air-Dry Clay, Crayola Model Magic and Model Magic Fusion are gluten-free. However, they are produced on the same machinery as Crayola Dough which does contain gluten. Although the machines are cleaned prior to the start of each production run, there is a slight possibility that trace amounts of gluten from Crayola Dough may be present in the other modeling compound products.
