Whirling Dragonfly Mobile
Design your own dangling dragonflies! Use Color Explosion Spinner™ art and everyday household materials to create a colorful, whirling dragonfly mobile!
1. Decorate several Crayola Color Explosion Spinner™ papers. Start by making a dot on the paper with a color-reveal marker. Then follow the directions in the box.
2. Build your dragonfly’s body. With Crayola Scissors, cut a large circle from one decorated paper. Cut a straight line to the center of the circle. Fold the edges to make a cone. Glue the seam with Crayola School Glue. Cut out four wings and two eyes from the Spinner paper. Embellish them with the color-reveal marker if you wish. Glue the wings and eyes to the dragonfly body. Air-dry the glue.
3. Create a mobile base for hanging. Cover the inside and outside of a cardboard roll with more decorated Color Explosion paper. Glue it on. Add more pieces of decorated paper if you like for a 3-D effect. Air-dry the glue.
4. Assemble the mobile. Connect the base and dragonfly with ribbon. Add more ribbon to hang your creation. Display your new mobile and enjoy watching it whirl!
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project.
Color Explosion Spinner®—
WARNING: People who are photosensitive (have had seizures induced by flashing lights and patterns) should not use this toy without first consulting a doctor. There is a possibility that photosensitivity may occur in children who have no history of prior seizures or epilepsy.
Color Explosion™ Black—Wash hands well with soap and water after use.
Recycled Cardboard Tubes—Use paper towel tubes, gift-wrap tubes, or long cardboard tubes that can be cut to any length. Health professionals caution against using recycled toilet paper tubes for arts & crafts projects because of the potential fecal contamination.
Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.
String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.
