Wish Upon a Star Placemat

Why

Set a special place at the table with this Crayola® Factory™ wishing star placemat. Sharing meals and dreams with each other can make everyone's wishes come true.

Steps

1. To make the background for your placemat, use a large piece of white construction paper or a recycled file folder opened flat. Cut the paper to the shape and size you want.

2. Remove the paper wrapping from Crayola Crayons. Place interesting textured items (such as a rubber jar gripper) under the placemat. Color over the bumpy surface with the sides of your crayons to make crayon rubbings.

3. On white construction paper or a recycled file folder, draw several stars with crayons. Write wishes on your stars. Use a Crayola Glue Stick to glue your wishing stars onto your placemat.

4. Cover your mat with clear, plastic adhesive such as Con-Tact® paper.

Interesting Info

The planets Venus and Jupiter are often mistaken for stars because they are very bright. Venus is brighter than any star and is close to Earth. Jupiter appears so bright simply because of its large size.
