You’re a modern artist when you create these Jackson Pollock-inspired placemats.

  • 1.

    Jackson Pollock was a modern artist who made drip painting famous in the 1950s. Pollock dripped paint onto large canvases so that the colors fell randomly and in great splashes of color. Find pictures of Pollack’s artwork and see how he painted canvases on the floor!

  • 2.

    Use Crayola® Scissors to cut a large rectangle of dark posterboard.

  • 3.

    Use Crayola Gel Markers to randomly draw colorful squiggly lines on your dark construction paper or posterboard.

  • 4.

    Ask an adult to cover your placemat with clear self-adhesive paper (so you can wipe off REAL spills with a damp cloth). Bon appetit!
