Watercolor Sparklers

Celebrate Independence Day with colorful sparklers and painted flags, perfect for kids of all ages!

  • 1.

    To make the sparklers: create the shape of fireworks with Crayola No Run School Glue on a thick, black paper and sprinkle with chunky salt.

    Use watercolors to lightly dab the paint onto the salt and glue and watch it spread out! Mix and match colors and allow to dry.

  • 3.

    When dry, cut out the shape of the firework and tape to a wooden skewer with the pointed end attached to the paper.

  • 4.

    To make the flag: Draw a rectangle to create the shape of the flag, then create the white stripes and stars using a white crayon.

  • 5.

    Paint over the top with red and blue water colors to reveal your resist! Allow to dry and cut out.

  • 6.

    Attach your flag to a wooden skewer with the pointed end attached to the flag.

  • 7.

    To create glitter glue sparkers: Create the shape of fireworks on black paper with Crayola Glitter Glue and allow to dry before cutting out and taping to a wooden skewer.

  • 8.

    Arrange and display for a festive centerpiece or hand out as colorful sparklers safe for kids!
