Learning Made Fun at The Crayola FACTORY®
The Crayola FACTORY® experience will enable students to encounter many artistic possibilities with projects that are based upon educational themes connecting the visual arts to academic subjects like language arts, math, science and social studies. Students will enjoy the artistic process, while enhancing critical thinking skills, developing positive self-esteem and learning about Crayola crayon and marker manufacturing.
Group Leader Information
Recommendations for the Group Leader
- Don’t be a chaperone. It is recommended that you be free to move between chaperone groups to answer questions and handle issues that may occur.
- Maintain high visibility during the field trip. Let your chaperones know that you will be checking in with each group as they explore the facility.
- Organize in advance. If your group is scheduled for reserved lunches, divide your chaperone groups and inform each chaperone what time to attend lunch before you arrive.
- Bring everything on the Group Leader Checklist.
- Confirm your bus reservations, date, time and place, at least twice.
Group Identification
Wearing group identification allows for easy recognition of your children by chaperones and staff. Use your own form of identification or photocopy the ID badge. Other effective methods of identification include wearing matching T-shirts or hats. We recommend that you DO NOT write your students’ names on visible ID badges.
Group Leader’s Checklist
This checklist is to assist in gathering the information and materials needed for a successful visit. Please bring the following items with you:
- Final payment (one for each reservation and McDonald’s lunchroom – if applicable)
- Signed Guidelines
- Exact count of children and adults (include teachers and yourself in the count)
- Chaperone Cards: fill in each card and distribute to chaperones before you arrive
- Photocopied floor plans for each chaperone
- Identification for all children (i.e., badges, same color shirts, hats)
- Exact departure time conveyed to bus drivers and chaperones
Arrival
Please plan to arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled reservation. Late arrivals may result in cancellation without a refund if later entrance times are filled to capacity.
When your group arrives at Two Rivers Landing, the group leader must:
- Direct your group to remain on the bus until you have checked them in.
- Direct your group to leave backpacks on the bus. Backpacks are not permitted in Two Rivers Landing. Other bags may be subject to search.
- Go directly to the Front Desk with your signed guidelines.
- Distribute admission stickers, tokens and bags as directed by the ticketing staff.
- Instruct your group to place coats and lunches in the colored bin assigned to your group once inside.
Chaperone Guidelines
Hints and suggestions for a great visit:
- Learn the name of each student in your group. Carry your chaperone card at all times.
- Stay together as a group. DO NOT leave students unattended at any time.
- Know exact times for lunch and departure. Please wear a watch. Arrive five minutes early.
- Ensure that every child and chaperone are wearing admission stickers.
- No food, beverages, gum or smoking are permitted in the facility. Dispose of containers before entering the building.
- Backpacks are not permitted in Two Rivers Landing. All other bags may be subject to search.
- Security and First Aid can be obtained by contacting the nearest staff member. Staff are identified by a Two Rivers Landing staff badge.
- Lost & Found is located at the First Floor Front Desk.
- The Museum Store is located on the first floor of our facility. The Crayola Store is located on Centre Square; two doors down.
- In the event that a child becomes separated, please inform a staff member immediately.
- Children are not permitted to shop in the stores without adult supervision.
Student Guidelines
Please review before visiting:
- No food, beverages, gum or smoking are permitted in the facility.
- Backpacks are not permitted in Two Rivers Landing. All other bags may be subject to search.
- Know the name of your chaperone and group leader.
- Children must stay with adults at all times.
- Talk Softly, Walk Slowly, and Share Supplies.
Booking your School or Group Visit
Preview Your Trip
Teachers, principals and superintendents who would like to preview their trip can get free admission to The Crayola FACTORY by showing a valid and current school ID card. This discount is not valid for accompanying family members or guests.
Reservations
Advance reservations are required for groups of 15 or more. Please contact the reservation office at 866–TRL–LAND (866–875–5263) or (610)515–8000 (press 2) Monday – Saturday, 8:30 A.M. – 4:30 P.M. for information.
Confirmation Letter
When you make a group reservation, we will send you a confirmation letter. Review your confirmation letter for accuracy. Confirm that the date, time and total number of visitors are correct. If you have any questions or corrections to your confirmation letter, please call us.
Canal Boat Rides/Pavilion Rentals (Seasonal)
Advance reservations are required for all pavilion rentals, and for groups of 15 or more for the mule–drawn Josiah White II. For more information or to reserve your space, call us.
Deposit and Payment Information
A $50 deposit is required for each reservation. If the deposit is not received within 30 days from the date your reservation is scheduled, we reserve the right to cancel. Final payment is due upon arrival–NO EXCEPTIONS.
Separate payment is required for each reservation and for the McDonald’s Express reservable lunchroom.
Acceptable forms of payment include school or organization checks, cash, Visa and MasterCard. No personal checks or purchase orders will be accepted for payment; groups cannot be billed.
Two Rivers Landing requires one adult chaperone for every five children. If your group does not meet our required chaperone ratio, the group discount will be forfeited, and you will be charged the general admission rate.
Cancellations/Refunds/Inclement Weather
Refunds will be made if cancellations are received 30 days prior to your visit.
Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to your visit or due to inclement weather will be rescheduled. Deposits will not be refunded.
Reservations will not be rescheduled more than 12 months from the original visit date and will not be rescheduled more than two times.
If the final payment check is made out for more than $20 over the balance due, a refund check will be processed and mailed to your organization.
Group Additions/Reductions
Please call two working days prior to your reservation to confirm your reservation numbers. You must call ahead to ensure space is available before you increase your group size. Persons not included in your reservation will have to pay the general admission price if group space is not available. If your group size is less than 15 paying visitors, your group is not eligible for the discounted admission rate.
Two Rivers Landing Brown Bag Lunchroom
The Brown Bag Lunchroom is available year round from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Advanced reservations are required. There is a fee. Please call for information.
Food Services
A McDonald’s® Express Restaurant with group lunchroom is available on a limited basis. Reservations for the group dining room are necessary. A separate payment is required for the purchase of McDonald’s food. Please call McDonald’s at (610)258–9603 one week prior to your reservation with your food order, if applicable. No outside food allowed.
Special Needs
When making reservations, please inform us of any special needs your group may have. Two Rivers Landing and the canal boat are wheelchair accessible.
Parking and Directions
Buses – A convenient bus drop–off and pickup is located directly behind Two Rivers Landing on Pine Street. Drivers will be directed where to park. Drivers may want to bring food and beverages with them due to off–site parking, however fast food is within walking distance.
Cars – Parking is available for a fee at the City of Easton municipal parking garage (directly behind Two Rivers Landing) and on–street metered spaces.

Chaperone Ratio
Two Rivers Landing requires one adult for every five paying children that attend.
Well–prepared chaperones are vital to the success of your visit. The group leader should meet with chaperones before your visit to explain the logistics of the trip and review the guidelines.
Chaperones are required to wear admission stickers. Distribute chaperone cards and guidelines to each adult.

Extending the Experience
The Crayola FACTORY® offers a variety of experiences for all ages, including hands–on activities, Binney & Smith history, and crayon and marker manufacturing. Your visit to Two Rivers Landing can be tied to state education curriculum. The hands–on activities feature educational themes that change each month. Visitors experience imaginative and fun projects planned around these themes that inspire personal creative development.
The following lesson plans can be adapted for various grade levels and incorporated into the classroom curriculum to further enhance the visitor experience at The Crayola FACTORY. The lesson plans focus on celebrations and encourage imagination and creativity.
Celebrations, History, and Creativity
Celebrations have taken place throughout time and each celebration has unique events and meaning to people. Discuss celebrations with your students and how they vary from culture to culture. Explore the clothes, food, art and dances that may be incorporated into the event. Have students discuss their own celebrations and the significance and meaning to them.
Various cultures use items as part of their celebrations, like Torans which are made in India. Torans are wall hangings made from glass, leather, and are embroidered with symbolic designs. They are hung above the door of homes during ceremonial occasions. In Hawaii, Tapa Cloths are used as decorations during ceremonial and royal occasions. The cloth is made from bark and printed or painted with designs made from berry juices. In Mexico, the Huichol Indian people make Nearikas. The symbolic painting made with yarn incorporates designs that tell a story about history, religion, and dreams.
Lesson Plan: Celebration Wall Hanging
Objective:
Introduce the students to art from many cultures. Students will learn about wall hangings from various countries. Students will explore pattern, shape, and color while creating their own celebration banner.
Materials:
12x18 oak tag or watercolor paper, pencils, rulers, brushes, water cups, yarn, hole punch, ink pad, Crayola washable paint, Crayola watercolor sets, Crayola broadline markers (Classic and Gel FX), Crayola Model Magic.
Process:
- Look at banners and wall hangings from various cultures. Discuss how the colors, patterns, and symbols are used. Ask the students questions. What cultural traditions does your family celebrate? What historic objects, colors, and symbols are a part of your family history?
- Use the 12x18 oak tag or watercolor paper to sketch your wall hanging design. Incorporate symbolic colors and repeated symbols. Use the ruler as needed to measure and lay out the design.
- Use the Crayola Model Magic to create a symbol stamper. Flatten a piece of Model Magic to the thickness of a pancake. Use another piece to make a ball and attach this in the center of the flattened piece of Model Magic. Create the symbol using pieces of Model Magic and attach this to the bottom of the stamper. Then allow the stamper to dry for best results.
- Place the stamper in the ink pad and then stamp the symbol on the wall hanging.
- Use the Crayola Watercolor set, Washable Paint, and Broadline Markers to enhance the design and colors of the project.
- When the artwork is dry, use the hole punch to place two holes at the top of the wall hanging and attach the yarn to hang.

Extensions:
- Play music from the culture you are studying during the lesson to integrate music in the classroom.
- Have an open house and invite the students, parents, and relatives to view the artwork.
- Create a paper quilt in the classroom. Have each student stamp their symbol on a square. Arrange the squares to make a quilt to display. Crayola Fabric Crayons are great to use if you create fabric quilt.

Art and Literacy
Educators can incorporate literacy into activities in a variety of ways. Read stories about celebrations and historical events to students. Have students write about their artwork and have them research information about artists and techniques.
Project Idea:
Have students research a historical event, write a report, and present their information to the class. Expand on this assignment by having the students create a puppet of a person involved in the event to use during their presentation.
Fantastic Folk Art
Come visit The Crayola FACTORY and see our Folk Art exhibit. It is a wonderful tie to the theme of celebrations, history, and creativity. Folk Art refers to work created by people who have little or no training as an artist. Many times their work reflects everyday life of people of a certain period and place. Folk artists create paintings, sculptures, decorative objects, and more.
Project Idea:
Gather a variety of found objects, boxes, paper tubes, etc. Allow students to create a sculpture that represents something about them or something they do on a daily basis. Ask students to write a paragraph about their sculpture and display their work.
