How Crayola® Markers are Made...

STEP 1:

We use plastic resin to make Crayola® marker barrels, caps and end plugs. Injection molding machines form the parts. We print the Crayola logo and other markings on the barrels before assembly.

STEP 2:

Hoppers hold the empty barrels on the assembly line. One machine builds the entire marker.

STEP 3:

Reservoirs store the ink in the markers.

STEP 4:

The back plug seals one end of a marker.

STEP 5 :

Ink fills the reservoir.

STEP 6 :

A nib, or marker tip plugs the other marker end.

STEP 7 :

A cap protects the nib and prevents the ink from drying up. Boxes of markers contain different color assortments.
