Can Do
Affirm self-image and visualize success by creating original artwork showing the achievement of personal goals.
1. In your journal or on other paper, list several of your goals or dreams using Crayola® Markers. Picture in your mind successfully completing your goal. Where would you be? How old would you be? What would you look like? Who would be with you?
2. Draw a marker portrait of yourself, including a thought bubble. In the thought bubble, draw yourself attaining one of your goals. What would you be doing? How would you feel?
3. Use Crayola Crayons to fill in the spaces in your drawing.
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.
- Write a play or story about achieving your goal. Each part of the process is a scene or chapter: set goal, visualize achievement, prepare and practice, overcome hurdles, realize success.
- Use a similar visualization process to solve other problems by identifying the steps you need to solve them.
- Make a card for a friend or a family member who is working to complete a task. On the outside, draw the person achieving success. Inside, write words of encouragement. Give the card to the person to wish them well.
