Cover It Up!
Want ORIGINAL and IMPRESSIVE report covers? Your report is sure to stand out with one-of-a-kind, easy-to-correct designs!
1. Measure paper for a report cover. Cut it to size with Crayola® Scissors.
2. Decorate the cover with Crayola Erasable Colored Pencils. Plan to erase so you can create cool designs. You could illustrate the topic of your report, decorate puffy letters, or make stripes and dots. Whatever you do, create a strong visual impact! Here’s how we made the sample.
3. Draw and color a square in the center. Color concentric squares in alternating colors until the entire page is filled.
4. Use the eraser to rub away lines from the center out to the paper’s edges. It’s a spider web! Erase out the report title. Use another color to fill the area. Erase a large spider in the center of your web. Color it black. WOW!
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project. Observe children closely and intervene as necessary to prevent potential safety problems and ensure appropriate use of arts and crafts materials. Some craft items, particularly beads and buttons, are potential choking hazards for young children. Avoid use of such small parts with children younger than 3 years. Craft items such as scissors, push pins and chenille sticks may have sharp points or edges. Avoid use of materials with sharp points by children younger than 4 years. Read all manufacturers' safety warnings before using arts and craft supplies.
Scissors—ATTENTION: The cutting edges of scissors are sharp and care should be taken whenever cutting or handling. Blunt-tip scissors should be used only by children 4 years and older. Pointed-tip scissors should be used only by children 6 years and older.
- Students with disabilities might use file folders or plastic report covers instead of posterboard if cutting is too challenging.
- Use the erasing technique to create interesting and unique book covers, file folders, CD covers, letterhead, and other items.
- Assessment: Consider how well the cover reflects the content of the report. How imaginative is the design? In what ways was erasing used to accentuate the report cover?
