Love You 'Sew' Much Cards
Stitch warm sentiments with colorful yarn to create homespun cards and matching envelopes—for Valentine’s Day or any time you want to express your love!
1. Fold brightly colored craft paper into cards. Following the directions on the package, use your Crayola Cutter to cut hearts from the center of each card.
2. Decorate cards with Crayola Twistables® Crayons. Write a loving message on the cover and inside—for Valentine’s Day or any occasion.
3. Use the Cutter to make "sewing" holes around the edges of each card and envelope. You can even make holes in the center of your card or trim the edges for special effects!
4. Wrap tape around one end of yarn or ribbon. Thread it up and down through the holes. Secure yarn ends with tape inside the card. If you like, add paper doilies or other craft decorations for even more pizzazz.
5. Add sparkle with Crayola Glitter Glue. Air-dry the glue before sending your note.
Adult supervision is required for any arts & crafts project.
Glitter Glue—
WARNING: CHOKING HAZARD—Small parts. Not for children under 3 years. Not for use on skin.
Sharp Point—
CAUTION: Contains a functional sharp point and should not be used by children under 4 years. Close adult supervision is required and adult assistance may be needed.
String-Like Materials—Includes string, raffia, lacing, yarn, ribbon, and other similar material. Children 3 years and younger should not be given any string-like material that is longer than 12 inches. Close adult supervision is essential whenever children use string-like material. When crafts are to be worn around the necks of children 8 years and younger, attach the ends of the “string-like material” with clear adhesive tape, which allows easy release of the bond if the craft becomes entangled or caught on equipment. For children older than 8 years, the ends of the “string-like material” may be tied and knotted.
- Making puns is fun. A pun is uses a word in such a way as to suggest two or more of the word’s meanings or the meaning of another word similar in sound. Think of card messages that make puns because the card is stitched or sewn, such as I love you "sew" much!
- Send this card with the empty stitching holes and the yarn, with instructions about how to finish the card.
- Assessment: Children create and send at least two cards with messages that are spelled properly. They demonstrate stitching confidence in preparing their craft.
