Geometric Wisdom

Combine shapes and design to create a geometric work of art.

  • 1.

    Bring art and geometry together by creating simple designs with triangles and squares with Crayola® Washable Markers.

  • 2.

    Create a design using Crayola Washable Markers on a piece of construction paper.

  • 3.

    Use Crayola Scissors to cut out triangles and squares in various sizes from both the decorated paper and plain white paper.

  • 4.

    Arrange the geometric shapes into a pleasing design or pattern on a large piece of construction paper.

  • 5.

    Attach the geometric shapes onto the construction paper with a Crayola Glue Stick.

  • MATH: Analyze, compare, create, and compose shapes.
  • VA: Students will investigate, plan and work through materials and ideas to make works of art and design.
  • VA: Students demonstrate an understanding that creative thinking skills transfer to all aspects of life.


  • Introduce students to tangrams. Start off with 2 shapes and add more until all seven tangram shapes are included.
