PROCEDURE: Make a paste of baking soda and water and apply to the stain. When the baking soda paste is dry, brush or vacuum the area. Then dip a sponge in alcohol and blot the remaining stain. Turn the sponge as it absorbs the stain. When no more color is being removed, flush with cool water and allow to dry. To remove any remaining stains, dip a sponge in ammonia and blot. Flush with warm water and dry with paper towels. If the stains persist, a solution of 1 teaspoon of chlorine bleach to 1 tablespoon of water might be applied to the stain with a dropper. Do not apply this solution to the stains for more than 2 minutes. Flush with water immediately to remove all traces of the bleach solution and dry with paper towels. Special Note: Work the stain from the outer edges toward the center, confining the stain.
Remove as much of the powder paint as possible by shaking or trying a light vacuum. Flush with cool water. Wash in hot water with laundry detergent for about 12 minutes (heavy soil cycle). Soak in a Biz or Clorox 2 solution, according to the instructions on the container, for one hour and repeat a laundry cycle. Air dry. Repeated laundering should remove any residual stains.
The suggestions for removing stains have been compiled as a service to our consumers. We are unable to guarantee or be responsible for the results obtained by these procedures. You may also wish to consult your local cleaner for further recommendations.
Before attempting the stain removal method, test each procedure on an inconspicuous area of the material or surface to be cleaned. Please be advised these stain removal methods involve hazardous products and are intended only for adult use. Crayola does not recommend children attempt these procedures.
In many procedures, specific brands of products are recommended. These are brands that performed most effectively in our laboratory. Always check individual containers for recommended procedures and warnings. Competitive brand products may work equally well.
