2009/2010 Annual Juried Art Exhibition
Official Rules
Eligibility: Open to legal residents in grades K through 12, living in the United States and Canada (not including Quebec), except Crayola LLC employees and their immediate families, its affiliates, printers, licensees, subsidiaries, agents, and contest judges. Void where prohibited. In U.S., subject to all federal, state, and local laws. In Canada, subject to applicable laws.
To Enter: NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. A student must create a piece of art and develop a written statement representing the theme, "Visual Voices. Speak up for Creativity." The art and statement should reflect the student's interpretations and reflections about the theme. The student's written statement should be about the artwork and their interpretation of the theme. Written statement should be 50 words or less. Artwork must be created using 2-D art materials. Artwork must not exceed 16? x 20? in dimension. A photo of the artwork must be electronically submitted to www.crayola.com/artexpo in the highest resolution (300 dpi). A photo of the artwork only will be accepted. Do not submit a picture of the student holding the artwork. No name should be on the front of the artwork submitted. Online submission required. Incorrect submissions (i.e. grade level) may be subject to disqualification. To complete a registration form and submit artwork, go to www.Crayola.com/artexpo. Submitters must download a parent/guardian permission slip and have signed permission before submitting a photograph of the student's artwork. The submitter must keep the permission slips until 5/31/10. Entries are limited to one per student.
Judging: Artwork will be divided by grades K, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th. There will be up to 3 winners per grade. There is no maximum number of entrants per grade level. Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges consisting of employees of Crayola LLC ("Sponsor") based on the following criteria: 1) Theme: "Visual Voices. Speak up for Creativity" All student's artwork should reflect their interpretation and reflection about the theme 2) Student's Written Statement (dream statement) should reflect interpretation of the artwork and the theme (in 50 words or less). 3) Visual Appeal 4) Originality 5) Age Appropriateness 6) Craftsmanship.
Prize: Up to 3 winners will be chosen from each grade. If the student?s artwork is chosen, Crayola LLC will require the submitter to mail the original artwork and parental permission slip to Creativity Art Exhibition, 1100 Church Lane, Easton, PA 18044 by 3/1/2010. Original artwork will be framed, donated to and exhibited at the offices of the Department of Education (DOE). Each winner will receive a plaque replica of the original artwork.
Entry Details: Entries will start around 9/30/2009 and must be submitted by 1/15/2010. Entries must be of entrant's own concept and creation, executed solely by the entrant. Artwork must be created using 2-D art materials. Artwork must not exceed 16? x 20? in dimension. Entries may not be offensive, as determined by the judging panel in its sole discretion, nor may they defame any person or place. Entries not complying with official contest requirements will be subject to disqualification. Entrants unconditionally assign and transfer to Crayola LLC all right, title, interest, and claims in all submitted entries and acknowledge that Crayola LLC may edit, alter, publish, or use said entry for any purpose. Crayola LLC shall have the right to use, assign, or dispose of entries however it sees fit without approval of entrants. Crayola LLC reserves the right to collect any hardcopies of the artwork for up to one year after 1/1/2010. If the student?s artwork is chosen, Crayola LLC will require the submitter to mail the artwork and parental permission slips to Creativity Art Exhibition, 1100 Church Lane, Easton, PA 18044 by 3/1/2010.
Notification: Winners will be notified by 1/31/2010. All winners will be notified by e-mail submitted with the artwork. If no response is received within two weeks, Crayola reserves the right to pick another winner at its discretion. Anyone chosen to be framed and donated to the DOE will be required to mail a permission form along with the original artwork to Crayola.
Additional Rules: Submission will become the property of "Sponsor." Sponsor will not be held liable for non-authorized human intervention or for entries that are stolen, incomplete, late, lost, damaged, illegible, defaced, or misdirected due to technology. Sponsor may terminate or suspend the contest. Prize is non-transferable and no substitutions or cash equivalents are allowed except by sole discretion of the Sponsor. Taxes on collection of a prize are the responsibility of the winner. In Canada, prize awards are not taxable. By entering this contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these rules. Entry and prize acceptance constitutes permission to use winners' name and likeness and entry for publicity purposes without further compensation (except where prohibited by law) and for investigation of eligibility.
