Go galactic with your own solar system mobile! Decorate your 3-D paper planets with Crayola® Twistables.
Find out about our solar system. Look at pictures of the planets' sizes, shapes, and colors. Notice how they all revolve around our sun.
Use Crayola Twistables to color designs and patterns on several different colors of construction paper. Use different colors for each planet. Fill both sides with bright crayon colors.
Cut two long strips of paper from each sheet. You can use the strips as they are to create your planets, or fold and cut into them (like cutting paper snowflakes) for more interesting textures.
Attach the ends of one strip together with a Crayola Glue Stick to form a circle. Do the same with a second strip, overlapping them. Glue them together where they overlap. Make as many planets as you want. There are eight in our solar system, or invent yo
To create a mobile base from which to hang your planets, carefully cut a large recycled plastic container lid into a sun or star with Crayola Scissors. Cut two pieces of aluminum foil or metallic paper to cover the lid. Use Crayola School Glue to attach the paper to the lid for a glittery effect. Dry.
Ask an adult to help you punch holes along the edge of the sun or star and in the middle. Punch a hole in each planet where the paper strips cross each other.
Wind chenille sticks around a Twistables barrel to make them curly. Remove the Twistables. Stretch the stems out so they are different lengths. Attach your planets to the mobile base with the twisted chenille sticks. Add loops on the ends of the sticks af
Add a chenille loop to the center of the base. You're ready to hang your solar system in YOUR space.
