Mosaic Flag Plaque

Have some clean, messy fun making marbleized paper with shaving cream and Crayola Washable Kids’ Paint.

  • 1.

Spray foam shaving cream into an aluminum tray and spread around. Use a craft stick to add red washable kids’ paint on top of the shaving cream. Use the craft stick to swirl the paint around the shaving cream. Lay heavy paper on top of the shaving cream and lightly press down on the paper. Lift the paper and lay it onto a piece of recycled newspaper. Use a craft stick to gently scrape off the shaving cream to reveal the colorful swirls of paint on the paper. Set aside to dry. Add more red paint or add a second color and repeat. If you want to change the color completely, wash out the tray and add a new color.

  • 2.

Use a piece of rectangular wood chipboard or recycled cardboard as the base for a flag. Trace a piece of black construction paper to fit the rectangle, cut out and glue to the base.

  • 3.

Cut the marbleized blue and red paper along with plain white paper into various sized triangular shapes. Arrange the shapes into a flag design and glue to the base with a glue stick.

  • 4.

Poke two holes into the base and thread raffia or colored string through the holes to create a hanger.

Hang up your work as an Independence Day decoration or keep it up year round!
