Long ago, people began to use whatever materials were available in their cultures to weave sturdy, beautiful baskets to hold their fish, fruit, and other items. Although many weavers still use natural plant dyes to color their work, you can choose similar Earthy hues from Crayola Model Magic Naturals to weave your patterned basket.
Press out a thin, flat sheet of each color of Model Magic with your hands. Use Crayola Scissors to cut the sheets into even strips. Use the strips to make a flat weaving.
To give your weaving a basket shape, place a paper towel in a small bowl. Lay the weaving on the paper towel. Press it into shape to dry overnight.
Fill your basket with dried flowers, wristbands, or other items. Baskets make great gifts, too! Create a variety of shapes and patterns.
